Mars is headed towards earth, but don't worry it will still be 35.8 million miles away. The Mars Close Approach is July 27-31.
During the Close Approach, you should be able to see the planet in the night sky according to NASA. It will be the brightest on July 31 when it reaches its highest point around midnight. At that time the planet will be 35 degrees above the southern horizon. It will be visible for most of the night.
To see it for yourself, just go outside and look up or contact a local planetarium.
Mars will become fainter as it travels away from the Earth in mid-August.
