Marquette Navy ROTC student and Midshipman 1st Class Donovan Lyon was ranked No. 2 in Order of Merit Feb. 21.
Lyon was chosen out of 251 future surface warfare officers from more than 75 universities.
This allowed Lyon the ability to be the second officer candidate or midshipman to make their selection on their first duty station. Lyon selected the USS Ross in Roma, Spain.
This is the second consecutive No. 2 pick Marquette has bolstered. Midshipman 1st Class Brandy Kinnunen was the 2018 selection and also selected the USS Ross.
