MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University and Aurora Health Care are partnering to build a $120 million athletic research center that will span four blocks in downtown Milwaukee.
Aurora will invest $40 million in the project, the single largest partnership investment by the health care provider in Milwaukee.
Marquette president Michael Lovell says the center will support intercollegiate and professional athletes, academic research and campus health and wellness. Lovell says the Milwaukee Bucks will also be involved, although there were no specifics.
The Journal Sentinel says the center, with its indoor track, golf practice area and lacrosse field, could open around the same time as the Bucks' $500 million arena, in time for the 2018-2019 season.
