and last updated

Alpine Valley will be just another lush, green Wisconsin pasture this coming summer--albeit one with a roof, a stage and room for 30,000 or so concert-goers.

The landmark venue will be dark in 2017, the first time since it came into being 40 years ago.

Live Nation Vice President of Marketing Jon Reens tells the Journal Sentinel’s Piet Levy acts that usually played Alpine are booked at other places, including stadiums and locations where industry experts say they'll make the most money.

He ensures that the venue will be back up and running in 2018.

Levy joined WTMJ Radio with much more on the announcement, the future of the venue, and what challenges are ahead.
