Daryl Holloway, a Milwaukee man who spent 24 years in prison for crimes he did not commit, now faces charges for breaking into a home and stealing a purse and handgun.

According to the criminal complaint, Holloway told police he didn’t want the purse, but rather just the gun because he wanted to kill himself. He put the gun in his mouth but changed his mind before pulling the trigger.

Holloway was released from the Green Bay Correctional Facility in October of last year after he was convicted in 1993 of sexual assault and armed burglary.

New DNA testing done by the Innocence Project discovered Holloway couldn’t have committed those crimes.
