WINNEBAGO — A man, formerly from Oshkosh, pleaded guilty on Thursday after he walked and hitchhiked over 350 miles to meet up with a 14-year-old.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday that Lee Jenkins, 32, admitted he tried to engage in sexual activity with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

Jenkins began exchanging messages with "Kylee" back in October of 2019. Shortly after, he started demanding sexually explicit photographs, and asked "Kylee" to meet up. Little did Jenkins know, "Kylee" was actually a Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy.

When Jenkins' numerous requests to meet up were turned down, he walked and hitchhiked 351 miles from Indiana. During the walk, Jenkins continued in sexually explicit conversations with "Kylee" and updated her as to his current location.

When Jenkins arrived in Winnebago, deputies placed Jenkins under arrest. He now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and up to a lifetime in prison. His sentencing is set for May, 27.
