MILWAUKEE -- Carl de La Chapelle said nothing quite rivals Paris' Bastille Day celebration, but Milwaukee's is his second best option.

"If I'm not in France this is the one place I want to be," he said.

De La Chapelle's wife is from Elm Grove.

"Came back here I think every summer since I met my wife, so seven years ago," said de La Chapelle.

He said it give him a chance to share French culture with his in-laws.

"I'm really happy to be here and share that with my friends and family here."

De La Chapelle had even tried to get his wife's family as close to the action in Paris as possible.

"To have her mom come to Paris and see the rehearsal. We have a military parade in Paris," which de La Chapelle said is a very unique experience.

Bastille Day marks the day the French people stormed the Bastille, starting the French Revolution. De La Chapelle will join Milwaukee's Storm the Bastille race as well.
