A crazy crash left a trail of destruction across an entire city block in West Allis. A man drove his car straight into a liquor store.

"All we heard was a big bang and we turned around," said Brett Dane, who works next door.

Witnesses say they never saw the car slow down or brake. They thought the man was driving more than 60 MPH when the crash happened.

After hitting a traffic light pole at the corner of 60th St. and Lincoln Ave., the man hit another light pole. He brought it down on two cars that were for sale in the nearby Auto Professionals lot. The pole ended up through the front windshield of one of the cars.

"The car kept on going, slid into the building, bounced off the building, ricocheted, did like a 360, hit the other pole, and ended up on the side of the street," said Thomas Malmquist, who owns Auto Professionals.

"It was like a really fast like bing, bing, bing, bing," said Dane.

Witnesses ran to the store to see if the people were okay.

"The whole front of the storefront was inside the store," said Dane.

The manager and a customer got out safely. The 83-year-old driver did have to go to the hospital. The witnesses say it looked like he was suffering from some sort of medical issue.

"We were lucky that nothing really serious happened to anybody here," said Dane.

The crash is still under investigation by the West Allis Police Department.
