JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Fort Atkinson Fire Department were called to Lake Koshkonong in Jefferson County after a man fell through the ice on the lake.
It happened around 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Witnesses tell TODAY’S TMJ4 the man spent about 15 to 20 minutes clinging to the ice but the fire chief says the man was able to pull himself to safety with assistance from a couple others who were nearby.
"We got out there with our fishing gear and saw the fire truck and the ambulance show up and started to look around and noticed a guy in the water a couple hundred yards away from us," said Matt Anderson, witness. "He was in there for I don't know 15, 20 minutes while we were here so we started heading towards him when we saw the ambulance then we got over there and he had climbed out himself."
Fire officials say no one was injured.
