Man drowns at Washington Park pool in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- A 19-year-old man is dead after drowning at the Washington Park swimming pool in Milwaukee.

The pool was closed at the time, but police said the man and several of his friends hopped the fence around 10:30 p.m.

Milwaukee police said the man jumped into the pool, had trouble swimming and sank. 

An officer jumped into the pool to retrieve him from the deep end. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.
