Sheriff: Dump truck driver drives drunk, crashes into car in Racine County

Racine County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning in which one driver was intoxicated.

A Franksville man was traveling westbound in a quad axle dump truck on STH 20 in the Town of Dover when he crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic. He then collided with a box truck that was traveling eastbound. 

Deputies noted that the driver's eyes were glossed over and he had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath. They noted that he was using chewing tobacco as well as chewing gum.

They then performed standardized field sobriety tests and arrested the man for operating while under the influence of an intoxicant 1st offense. He was later cited and released to a responsible party.

No one involved int he crash was seriously injured in the accident, but both vehicles did need to be towed from the scene due to damage.
