MILWAUKEE – A 25-year-old man suspected of selling drugs died Sunday night after crashing his car into a tree while trying to free from police.
It started just after 8 p.m. Sunday when Milwaukee police attempted to stop him in the 2200 block of N. 12th Street.
The driver fled the scene and crashed into a tree in the 2200 block of N. Lindsay Street. He attempted to flee on foot but was arrested a short time later.
Police say he was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance after complaining of pain and was pronounced dead around 10:50 p.m.
Based on preliminary information, investigators believe he may have ingested drugs during the incident.
The Milwaukee County Investigative Team is conducting the investigation with West Allis Police as the lead agency.
