The 26-year old man accused of fatally shooting Milwaukee Police Department Officer Matthew Rittner has been charged with first-degree homicide.

Jordan Fricke also faces charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, as well as maintaining a drug trafficking place.

Officials say Rittner, an officer with the department's tactical unit, was executing a search warrant on the city's south side when he was shot Wednesday.

Officers announced themselves while conducting the search warrant in the 2900 block of S. 12th Street at which time Fricke fired several rounds, police say.

The target of the search warrant was wanted for the illegal sale of firearms and drugs.
