The creators of the Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer" are working on a second season of the show, with a release date set for this year.

According to USA Today, Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland said she wasn't exactly sure when new episodes of the documentary series would be released, but that they would be out this year.

"Making a Murderer" follows the story ofSteven Avery, a Manitowoc County resident who, along with his nephew Brendan Dassey, were convicted in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.

The creators are in Manitowoc shooting the second season, and Netflix is letting them work at their own pace.

When it's released, the new season will cover the post-conviction appeal efforts for both Dassey and Avery.

Dassey was ordered to be released from prison pending a new trial in November of last year after a federal judge tossed out his confession, but prosecutors blocked his release later that month.

Avery is still pursuing his own appeal.
