OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. — A wrong way semi caused a crash and closed I-43 northbound and Highway 32 in Ozaukee County Tuesday night.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, officials responded to the report of a semi-tractor trailer facing the wrong way on the I-43 northbound off-ramp to CTH H in Port Washington around 5:15 p.m.

Officials say the semi attempted to correct itself by conducting a U-turn. A vehicle traveling northbound then struck the semi, causing disabling damage to both vehicles and blocking both northbound lanes on I-4, officials say.

The semi driver, a 42-year-old Milwaukee man, did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was a 51-year-old Cleveland, Wisconsin man. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a Grafton hospital by ambulance.

I-43 northbound was diverted onto CTH H for almost two hours while vehicles were removed from the scene.

The semi driver was issued citations for Reckless Driving, Operating Wrong Way on Highway, and charged with Felony - 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
