Law enforcement in Fond du Lac county believe they've taken down a major heroin ring. They have ten people in custody and one on the run in the case.
Authorities think the ring sold 7,000 grams of heroin, about $1 million worth from March 2015 to February 2017.
The investigation began in August 2016 with a traffic stop, from there a special Wisconsin Department of Justice unit called MEG and the Fond du Lac County Police Department have been building the case.
Local authorities do believe overdose deaths will temporarily go down in the area because this feed ring from Chicago to Fond du Lac is no longer in service. They say they've already heard of people quitting the drug because supply is cut off. But, they said they know they'll have to continue to chase down suppliers until people decide to give up heroin.
