Madison thief whips Pick n' Save clerk with belt, steals cart full of beer

MADISON, Wis. -- Police say a man attempting to steal beer from a Madison Pick n' Save took off his belt and used it to whip a cashier Saturday afternoon, according to TODAY'S TMJ4 sister station WISC-TV.
 
It happened around 3:20 p.m. at the Pick n' Save on McKee Road in Madison.
The cashier attempted to stop the man from stealing a cart of beer out of the store. The cashier was then whipped at least nine times in the head and upper body and suffered numerous welts. 
 
Police describe the suspect as a 30-year-old black man who is balding.  He has no facial hair and was wearing a black ball cap, black T-shirt, sunglasses and jeans, police said. 
 
A police dog was sent to the scene did not find a suspect.
