MADISON -- A city employee has been told by his boss to not wear his "Make American Great Again" hat to work.
According to our partners at WISC-TV, Felix Caraballo, a street sweeper in Madison, had been wearing his hat for "months," but only recently did it become an issue.
Caraballo said he is being treated differently from his co-workers because they are allowed to wear pins that endorse Medicare for all, which Caraballo believes is just as much of a political statement as his MAGA hat.
There are rules in place for city employees to follow.
Those rules state that no employee on duty shall wear campaign material for the apparent purpose of influencing the outcome of any referendum, or improving the chance of election of a person seeking elective office.
