The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission has a new program that lets you take a dog home, for free, for the weekend.
It's called the Weekenders Club and there are several dogs available right now, says Executive Director Karen Sparapani.
"Studies have shown their cortisol, their stress levels, go down considerably and stay down just from the weekend stay out of the kennel," said Sparapani.
All potential pet parents have to do is sign up on the website. Friday afternoon you pick up a full bag of supplies, some paperwork, and a kennel along with your new weekend friend.
Over the three days, MADACC encourages you to take the dog for walks, out to dog-friendly establishments and see if this pup is a good fit. On Sunday weekenders are able to return the dog to the shelter or adopt them right on the spot.
