MILWAUKEE — Local high school students got a chance to perform with legendary rock 'n' roll band Foreigner on the BMO Harris Pavilion stage at Summerfest. The students are from Pius XI High School in Milwaukee and part of the choir.

Though the band was in its heyday when many of the students weren’t even born, they know the music.

“I’m super excited, I knew a lot of their songs, but I just didn’t know who Foreigner was. I didn’t know the name,” choir member David Chrisbaum said.

Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson grew up in Whitefish Bay and enjoys the chance to play Summerfest when he can. He said “it’s really cool for me because I was at the first Summerfes. … It’s always been such a great festival. It’s really all about the music and the entertainment, and it’s a great synergy of all that, and I love playing here.”

The band and the choir performed the hit song “I Want to Know What Love Is” during the band's encore performance before a packed pavilion.
