A seven-year-old Hartland girl fighting a deadly battle with a brain tumor got a boost of support from local K9 officers.

More than 30 K9 officers and their partners from across southeast Wisconsin stopped by Emma Merten's home this morning.

One officer said Emma was quite surprised and couldn't stop smiling.

"We were in the house with her when the cars rolled up and I think her eyes were the size of saucers, so I think she was happy to see the officers and the dogs here," said Officer Rick Orlowski of West Allis Police Department.

"She's pretty excited and overwhelmed with all of the support. We've received from around the world," said Emma's mom Tammi.

Emma is suffering from and inoperable diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) tumor.

She loves dogs, so to show her support, a family friend put out a request for people to send her letters and photos of puppies.

She has since received hundreds of thousands of letters and photos from all over the world.
