GREENFIELD, WI - Route 76 Diner in Greenfield may have just recently opened, but the diner is already gaining a reputation for giving back.
"It's Thanksgiving and we're supposed to be giving thanks for what we have and what we can share," said Tom Williams.
Thursday the restaurant opened it's doors to veterans for a free Thanksgiving meal. The owners partnered with the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative to provide a free Thanksgiving dinner to veterans. Dozens of volunteers served meals and the pies and pastries were donated from chefs around the Milwaukee area.
"It's a very emotional day because just hearing the stories, just talking to everybody, everyone's grateful and I'm just so happy for it," said Omar Hamdan.
The diner donated the leftover food to the Street Angels, a group dedicated to feeding the homeless.
