MILWAUKEE — A gravel spill forced lanes to be closed on a Milwaukee freeway Thursday, causing traffic to backup for miles, according to the Department of Transportation.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene, closing the two left lanes of I-94 East at National Avenue around 12:45 p.m.
Authorities have asked motorists to avoid the area, expecting the clean up efforts to last for several hours.
