The search for a missing child in the Wisconsin Dells will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to WISC-TV.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office received a report of a child swimming in the Wisconsin River along a beach in the natural area around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The sheriff's office, along with the Wisconsin Dells Police Department, Sauk County dive team and Dells and Lake Delton EMS responded to the call to search for the child in the river. The search was later postponed around 9:30 p.m.

Strong river currents often make these kind of searches more difficult, according to law enforcement.

Authorities say the family of the child is from the area where the child was swimming and was present during the search.
