MILWAUKEE -- Third graders are bridging the gap between the community and the Milwaukee Police Department.
About a dozen youngsters wrote letters to the men and women in blue to say "thank you for keeping us safe" at Pierce Elementary School on Thursday.
"Thank you for everything you have done for hundreds of years. Thank you for saving everyone. I remember when you saved my friends, thank you. Sincerely, Jace Perry."
"I am happy that you love us and take care of us. I can't wait to grow up so I can be just like you. Sincerely, Ajaniah."
The officers showed up with gifts, and the kids got to ask the officers questions and get their pictures taken.
