Kids gather at Kletzsch Park for flag football, part of NFL initiative

GLENDALE-  Kids from all over Milwaukee gathered in Kletzsch Park Friday night for some friendly competition.

"Just goofing around and scoring touchdowns," said Svend Luke, young athlete.

Alexis and Bobbie McCain started NFL North Shore Flag Football to get boys and girls in grades first through eighth off of the couch and onto the field.

"Take is back to the old days and get out and enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise," explained Alexis McCain, NFL North Shore Flag Football.

The league is part of The Play 60 movement, an NFL initiative to get young people active.

"It's exercise, it's fun. I like playing football, said Grayson McCain, a young athlete.

More than 100 kids are part of the first outdoor season.

"No contact, lots of fun. They're learning the fundamentals of football," explained Bobbie McCain, NFL North Shore Flag Football.
