KENOSHA -- A man claiming to be a Kenosha Police officer showed up at one family's home asking to come inside Tuesday morning.
Police say the man told the homeowner and her children that he was working with the Kenosha Police in a new program designed to increase home security. He asked the family about the neighborhood watch program, their home security system and he offered to come inside and inspect the home.
The homeowner refused to let the man in and called police when he left.
The woman described the man as a Caucasian in his fifties, wearing a dark sleeve collared shirt with yellow writing and she said he drove a white van.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kenosha Police Department.
Police say residents should be vigilant of their surroundings as well as anyone approaching their home.
