MILWAUKEE — It won't be the same as chilling at Cathedral Square Park, but Jazz in the Park will return this year, albeit virtually.
On Aug. 20 and 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., music fans can stream the Jazz in the Park performances on its Facebook Live event page. To make it seem like a party, you can share selfies of your socially distanced Jazz in the Park backyard picnic using the hashtags #JazzintheParkMKE.
Lockjaw is the Aug. 20 headliner, featuring Jason Goldsmith (saxes), John Simons (bass) and Jeno Somlai (drums) joined by dynamic pianist Scott Currier.
All four players are known as educators, performers, leaders, and sidemen across the spectrum of musical styles, according to a press release from the East Town Association, organizers of the event.
Milwaukee festivals-favorites Cigarette Break will perform on Aug. 27. Since forming in 2002, they have been regulars at different Milwaukee festivals as well as performing with some national acts.
In addition to enjoying the music on the live stream, there's a virtual tip jar available to help make future music events possible.
