JANESVILLE -- A Janesville middle school teacher has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.
The 44-year-old man told an Edgerton police officer on April 26 that he had a sexual relationship with a student that began two years ago and lasted for a year and a half.
According to the Janesville Police Department, the assaults occurred at Edison Middle School, his house and the student's house.
WISC-TV reported that the man was a special education teacher at Edison Middle School for 16 years and is currently on paid administrative leave.
“The student was identified and confirmed the sexual relationship occurred,” Janesville police said in a statement.
The man is facing tentative charges of repeated sexual assault of a child and is being held at Rock County Jail.
