MILWAUKEE -- Although some have given Wisconsin the reputation of being the “fat state” -- a new study shows that is not necessarily the case.
According to a new WalletHub study, Wisconsin was rated 28th most fat (or 24th slimmest) state in the country.
WalletHub rated Mississipi as the fattest state and Colorado as the slimmest state.
To determine these statistics, WalletHub analysts took into account 19 key factors which range from share of obese and overweight population to sugary-beverage consumption among kids and more.
Wisconsin ranks 21st in "obesity and overweight prevalence," 23rd in "health consequences" and 29th in "food and fitness."
WalletHub also found that Wisconsin is the 21st most obese state in the United States based on obesity rates.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than seven out of ten American adults are overweight or obese.
