The parking structure at The Corners of Brookfield has been reopened after a person was found dead inside a vehicle Saturday.

Police say they conducted a traffic stop at the parking lot, and when the officer approached the vehicle they observed a gunshot from inside the car. They then observed an individual in the car with a gunshot wound.

Law enforcement attempted life saving measures, but the person ultimately succumbed to their injuries. No one else was injured in the incident.

Police say there is no threat to the community and the investigation is ongoing.

The Corners of Brookfield will still be open for normal business hours.

The Corners of Brookfield released this statement on the incident:

“Overnight our entrance and north side of the parking structure off of Bluemound Road was the site of a police matter unrelated to the center. The center and its tenants were closed at the time of the incident. The authorities have been conducting their investigation and have the parking structure closed while they complete their work. We are fully cooperating with authorities to assist in any way possible.

Our sympathy is with all those involved in this tragic situation and we thank the Town of Brookfield Police Department and other authorities for their support. We will continue to offer any cooperation we can to their investigation."
