WAUKESHA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Waukesha early Tuesday morning, according to the Waukesha Police Department.
The incident happened near West Avenue and Progress Avenue at approximately 6:37 a.m. and was witnessed by people in the area.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene; however, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and the identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police announced several road closures as a result, including Sunset and West avenues, as well as West and Newhall avenues, which are still in effect as the investigation into the incident continues.
