LAKE GENEVA — Lake Geneva will once again see a frozen wonderland this year because the Ice Castles are back on Jan. 15!

Jan. 15 is the scheduled opening date, though it could change due to weather at the time. While the ice castles are returning, things may look a little different due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Visitors at the Ice Castles at Geneva National Resort will notice a reduced capacity and social distancing, as well as a face mask requirement. Tunnels and crawl spaces will be clearly marked as one-ways so there's limited face-to-face contact with other visitors.

"We are thrilled to welcome families back to Ice Castles at Geneva National Resort this winter," Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird said in a statement Thursday. "The safety of our guests and staff has always been our top priority, and the new features and guidelines we have in place this season are designed to create a safe and magical environment for everyone."

Ice artisans will begin growing and harvesting up to 10,000 icicles each day beginning in late November. The ice artisans can then begin to construct the frozen attraction.

If all goes as planned, and the weather permits, the Ice Castles will open in 2021. That's right, some good news for the new year!

"We are excited to provide a venue for fresh-air adventure and an amazing lakefront landscape that accentuates the magic of this one-of-a-kind outdoor attraction,” adds President of Paloma Resort Properties, which owns and manages Destination Geneva National. “Since last season, we’ve opened 32 brand-new Suites – spacious accommodations just steps from the entrance to Ice Castles.”
