How police found missing 10-year-old boy with autism

Posted

WAUKESHA -- The 10-year-old Waukesha boy who went missing Sunday afternoon has been found safe, TODAY'S TMJ4 has learned.

Andrew Ounkham was last seen around 3:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, running through a large cornfield behind his home, located near Stillwater Circle and Oxbow Drive.

Andrew's parents told police the boy has used the corn field to hide before, but usually they can find him right away.

Hundreds of volunteers, K-9 units, drones, and thermal imaging all were used to search for Andrew, but two teens who left school early to join the search discovered the boy's hiding spot.

"We were following a river and then he came out of the corn and he walked across and walked between us, and we were like, 'Andrew?'" said Adam Lembke.

Police say Andrew is still being checked out at a local hospital, but he's going to be okay.

"It's good that we found him, we know the family pretty good," Lembke said. "He was laughing and running with us, so I'm glad he's alright."
