MILWAUKEE -- If life is a game, our children need the best coaches.
On Sunday, one community organization recognized such a mentor - Andre Lee Ellis, the founder of We Got This Milwaukee and a north side community garden.
"The streets are rough out there in Milwaukee, and many young black boys are fatherless," Ellis lamented to TODAY'S TMJ4. "Those of us that can - we try to bring in some nurturing, love and respect into their lives."
Ellis received the Community Impact today from the 29th Street Association, an organization that started as a basketball team 30 years ago among a group of friends who lived near 29th and Melvina.
29th Street also awarded three $1,500 college scholarships to MPS students at today's alumni game.
