Steamy weather conditions are expected to put air conditioners and local businesses into overdrive.

Southeast Wisconsin will be under a heat advisory from noon Thursday and until late Friday night.

Local heating and cooling experts said with temperatures ramping up these are the condition that push your air conditioner to its max.

K Komfort Heating and Cooling is bracing for an influx of calls from customers needing repairs. They have crews ready to work extra hours as long as scorching temperatures threaten air conditioning systems.

Slava Krol, part owner of K Komfort, said often they get called for repairs that could have been prevented if customers had regular maintenance done.

With the really hot temperatures creeping up Krol said there are a few simple things you can do to help your air conditioner if you did not get maintenance done.

Krol said to make sure to replace the batteries in your thermostat, check to see your outside unit has the fan working, and to check your air filter.

"Make sure that it’s clean and if it’s not get it replaced honestly it will freeze your system down," said Krol.

Wednesday people were turning to their local hardware stores ahead of the heat.

Over in Glendale, Cathy Curties made it her mission to go to the Ace Hardware to replace her air filter.

"I wanna make sure it runs really well for the upcoming weekend," said Cuties.

In Cedarburg, Mark Boeder was on the hunt for a pool.

"I am picking up a pool for our dog Guinness. It’s a very hot day and there’s several hot days to come," said Boeder.

He tried several stores before finding a pool at Beyer's True Value.

As people brace for the heat, they said they are not complaining because winter will be here before we know it.
