It's been nearly two years since two 12-year-old girls almost stabbed their classmate to death in Waukesha, all in the name of pleasing the fictional "Slender Man." This fall, viewers will get an even more comprehensive look into the horrific crime as HBO releases a new documentary.

"Beware the Slender Man" will hit HBO and streaming platforms later this year, after premiering at Austin's South by Southwest this week. Monday, the subscription-based service released an official poster for the documentary that certainly leaves an impression.

The latest from HBO Documentary films will revolve around the story of Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, the two 12-year-old Waukesha girls who were accused of nearly fatally stabbing their classmate; reportedly because the mythical Slender Man asked them to.

According to Indiewire, Director Irene Taylor Brodsky "reportedly got exclusive access to the families of both girls charged with the crime," interviews that will help flesh out what happened on that day in 2014.

Bill Weier, Anissa's father, is also scheduled to appear at a South by Southwest panel later this week to discuss his daughter's role.

The myth of "Slender Man" is difficult to trace back to one source, but most agree the character got his start as "creepypasta" - scary stories passed around on the Internet.

Both girls are still waiting to hear on appeal if they will be tried as adults.
