TWO RIVERS (NBC 26) — Two Rivers Police Department says two people have been arrested on allegations of child neglect.

Jesse Vang and Katrina Baur have been arrested. Both Vang and Baur will have bail hearings at 12:45pm on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Manitowoc County Court House.

This comes just a day after a candle vigil was held in honor of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue outside of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish.

Community members were invited to come together and show their support for Elijah.

Many of them have been searching for Elijah since the Amber Alert was issued Tuesday.

Officers say they are now searching local rivers and landfills as part of their ongoing search for Elijah.

"It's nice seeing everyone come together but it breaks your heart a little bit just because he's just a young little boy," said Briana Gomez.

“I mean we had dozens of people in and out today with our search party asking what they can do and lots of local businesses provided food for us so it’s been really outstanding seeing the community support from just this small area,” said Kate Schermetzler.

Police urge people to come forward with any information they may have no matter how insignificant they think it may be.

Police say Elijah is about 3 feet tall and weighs 45 pounds with sandy-colored hair and a birthmark on his left knee.

Along with gray sweatpants, Elijah was wearing a long-sleeved, dark dark-colored shirt and red and green dinosaur slip-on shoes.

Police say his caregiver last saw Elijah at their home with no family or associates in the area.

The community and police have been searching for young Elijah since he went missing around 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Police said Elijah was last seen in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road in Two Rivers.

On Tuesday, the sidewalk along Mishicot Road was filled with neighbors and authorities searching for the three-year-old. At times, many were even yelling the boy's name up and down the road. The search expanded to include the area around northwest Two Rivers.

"That's what made me come out here, seeing everyone come together or work together to try to find him," said local woman Jessica Shields, who came out to help. "I'm a mother myself and I wouldn't dare want this to be my kid so I'm going to be out here."

Police say local, state and federal agencies are all helping in the search for Elijah. On Tuesday, we saw not only many local departments present, but there was a helicopter circling the area for multiple hours.

"I just think that if I was that kid, I would want to come home," said local searcher, Max Schram. "So, I'm going to do the best I can do bring him home."

Our Two Rivers reporter, Preston Stober briefly spoke with Two Rivers' Police Chief Ben Meinnert on Wednesday morning. Chief Meinnert said that the is no updates this morning but the search is ongoing. He told Preston he would fill us in as soon as he knows more.

Police describe Elijah as Hmong and White ethnicity with brown eyes. Police said Elijah is possibly carrying a red and white plaid blanket as pictured below.
