HARTFORD — A father fired a shot in the Township of Hartford Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Police received a 911 call regarding shots being fired inside of a residence near Wacker Dr. and W. Summer St around 2:15 p.m. The caller reported that his father had fired one shot inside the residence, but not specifically at a person, according to police.

Authorities said that there were three innocent parties who sheltered themselves in the basement of the home while waiting for police to arrive.

Washington County Sheriff's Deputies along with Hartland Police Officers and the Washington County SWAT Team were dispatched to the scene and established a perimeter after not being able to contact the suspect.

Police were able to make contact with the suspect who surrendered about two hours later after negotiations. The SWAT Team Rescue Vehicle was used to assist the innocent parties taking shelter in the basement exit safely.

Charges are expected to be filed by the Washington County District Attorney's Office in the coming days. There were no reported injuries.
