HALES CORNERS, Wis. — Hales Corners Fire Department has appointed 37-year veteran firefighter, Pete Jaskulski to the department's highest position, the village announced Friday.

Jaskulski was a paid-on-call firefighter and advanced emergency medical technician for the department and held the position of assistant chief for 18 years before this promotion to fire chief.

He retired in May of 2018, but was called back to the department to be interim Fire Chief in May 2019.

Chief Jaskulski also served 25 years with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and retired from duty as a Captain.

An extensive recruitment process to fill the position was conducted by Public Administration Associates and Jaskulski was promoted based on his vast experience in public safety, "his vision for fostering a culture of excellence in the department and his extraordinary command presence," read the release.
