MILWAUKEE -- A bus shelter in Milwaukee's Cathedral Square will look a bit different than others for the next ten weeks.

The shelter on the corner of Wells and Jackson was remodeled Wednesday to look like the Basilica of St. Josaphat -- complete with a pew and stained glass.

It is part of a new fundraising campaign with the St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation.

The group wants to raise $2.5 million to restore the real Basilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S 6th St.

The money would be used to restore the masonry -- stone and roof ledges -- to its original form and detail. The group said this is needed to slow the loss of building ornamentation, prevent water infiltration, improve safety from falling pieces and restore the decorative elements.

The money would also be used for lighting the dome. The group said the addition of carefully balanced textural lighting will articulate the dimensional details of the dome.
