One of Milwaukee's most troubled zip codes may soon get a boost.

The MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary intends to buy a warehouse at 2461 W. Center St. to use as a community center with daytime resources for homeless and at-risk people in the 53206 area. They plan to buy the building for $175,000.

The group has a plan that includes meal programs, hygiene resources, clothing and recovery resources. They intend to use it as an emergency warming room during cold temperatures as well.

The building has five floors. MBHS has a second planned phase of expansion, which they said could house employment resources, clinics and meeting space.

MBHS is accepting donations for the center. You can learn more at mbsanctuary.org.
