MILWAUKEE -- Nearly one year ago, the Milwaukee Police Department lost Officer Charles Irvine Jr. in the line of duty.

According to the release, District 4 will host a grill-out fundraiser in the officer's honor.

“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the day we lost Off. Irvine while serving City of Milwaukee residents, I invite everyone to attend this special event to show your support for his work and for his family,” said Ald. Johnson.

The event will take place at the District 4 police station on Wednesday, June 5 from noon until 4 p.m. Proceeds will go towards a plaque with Irvine's name on it.

The plaque will be installed on the bridge at N. 76 St. and W. Silver Spring Dr.

“I am confident that your generosity will make it possible to honor him with a plaque as a permanent reminder of his service, and of what we all lost that day in June 2018,” Johnson added.
