Greenfield police officers stopped four suspects who stole merchandise from Kohl's by performing the PIT maneuver.

Officers responded to the Kohl's on South 84th and West Forest Home for reports of a retail theft about 7 p.m. Monday.

The suspects fled through the emergency exit, entered a black SUV and began traveling southbound on South 84th Street.

Officers located the vehicle and began to pursue it when they conducted a PIT maneuver, ultimately ending the pursuit and stopping the vehicle.

All four suspects were taken into custody, and $3,700 in Kohl's merchandise was recovered from the vehicle.

A PIT maneuver is a pursuit tactic to stop a fleeing car by hitting the rear of the car and forcing it to turn sideways.
