The Green & Gold Zone in West Allis that bustles with business during Packers season may be going out of business.
"Me and my wife are retiring. That is the impetus," said store owner Gary Anders.
He and his family opened the store 15 years ago. It is an official team store, meaning it is the place to buy Packers gear including,
"Glassware, keychains, dog collars, jerseys and helmets," said Anders.
Anders says knit hats always sell first, "and usually the most popular hat will be whatever the players are wearing on the sideline," he said.
Anders reminisces about the Super Bowl days when he couldn't keep items on the shelves.
"The entire industry had been sucked dry of forest green blanks to make T-shirts with," he said.
He says sales are obviously better when the team is doing well, but when they aren't playing their best,
"The Packers' poor seasons the last two years have not been kind, but that's not the be all and end all."
Not the end all for a store that Anders hints could remain open.
"We are in negotiations with one party who is interested but we'll have to see if the details can be worked out."
Until then, merchandise is anywhere from 30-50 percent off, and the store could close as early as April.
