A small plane crashed in southern Wisconsin Sunday, killing four people. The single-engine plane took off from the Kenosha Regional Airport and crashed near the Monroe Airport, said authorities.
The Green County Coroner identified the victims Monday afternoon.
81-year-old Colleen S. Deininger, 53-year-old Melissa R. Deininger-Dickman, 17-year-old Emmarose M. Dickman and 13-year-old Alex M. Dickman were all killed.
Sheriff Mark Rohloff with the Green County Sheriff's Office said the pilot, Colleen, was a grandmother and the three passengers were her daughter and two grandchildren.
The Green County Sheriff’s Department received multiple 911 calls. Witnesses said the plane was on fire when it went down.
Firefighters from several departments responded to the crash to put out flames and search the scene.
"Family members did contact us. They had been tracking the plane itself. They knew the flight plan and when they lost contact. They did contact the Sheriff's office," said Sheriff Mark Rohloff.
The National Transportation Safety Board and officials with the Federal Aviation Administration were already on the scene by Sunday afternoon. The sheriff anticipates the scene will be shut down for at least a couple of days during the investigation.
