OZAUKEE — A popular scam affecting the elderly community has returned, and local law enforcement wants you to be aware.

Over the past few weeks, local law enforcement like the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department have received several reports of fraud against the elderly.

This fraud consists of someone calling an elderly person pretending to be their grandchild. The scammer then says that they've been in an accident of some sort and asks for money.

However, what makes this scam so believable, is the scammers are going to residences to collect the money.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department, several agencies within southeast Wisconsin have had reports of this scam. However, Ozaukee County is still seeking suspects.

If any agencies have similar frauds or have developed any suspects, please notify the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
