The Village of Grafton Police Department posted a reminder on Facebookthat it is not acceptable to leave pets in a hot car.

"We get way too many of these calls each year...way too many!" the department said in the post.

The temperature outside does not always equal the temperature inside the car.

For example, if it's 75 degrees outside, it can get up to 118 degrees in your car.

Police say if you leave your pets in a hot vehicle, you will be cited.
