The Wisconsin Humane Society is thanking a good Samaritan who rescued an abandoned puppy left in a garbage bag in Green Bay Wednesday.

According to a Facebook post, a woman was walking her dog when the dog started sniffing a garbage bag left outside. After the bag started to move, the woman looked inside and discovered a 2-week-old puppy squirming around. The woman brought the pup home and tried to warm it up and call authorities.

The puppy was brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society's Green Bay campus where it was evaluated. The pup, now named Buddy, was severely hungry and suffered a scrape on his nose. His prognosis is still being determined as Buddy spent a lot of time in the frigid cold without a mother.

WHS is asking for assistance through donations to help Buddy. They can be made by clicking here.
