Germantown police to retire K9 unit

Lt. Huesemann of the Germantown Police Department has announced that he intends to retire their K9 unit “Rambo.”
 
Rambo is eight-years-old is starting to show some health indicators that it’s time to retire, according to their Facebook post.
 
Germantown police say this was a very difficult decision for Lt. Huesemann to make, because he has been working closely with Rambo for the past seven years. 
However, Lt. Huesemann says he wants to give Rambo a healthy, enjoyable retirement as a reward for his service to Germantown police.
 
Rambo’s exact retirement date has not been determined yet. Germantown police says it depends on the availability of a new dog, and the upcoming training schedule for new K9 handlers.Lt. Huesemann has started the process of selecting a new handler, and then will select a new K9 for the police department.
 
Lt. Huesemann is still going to be active with the supervision, training, and fundraising for the K9 Unit after Rambo’s retirement.
